Step-by-Step Suede Paint Beginner Guide
Never applied suede paint before? No problem. Wall FX is designed to be beginner-friendly. Follow these steps and you will have a stunning suede finish on your first try.
What You Will Need
- Wall FX suede paint additive
- Flat interior paint in your chosen color
- 3 to 4 inch chip brush
- Painter's tape
- Drop cloth
- Small mixing container
Step 1: Prep Your Space
Lay down a drop cloth and tape off trim, baseboards, and ceiling edges. Clean your walls with a damp cloth and let them dry completely.
Step 2: Mix Your Paint
Add Wall FX to your flat paint according to the package instructions. Stir thoroughly until fully combined.
Step 3: Start in a Corner
Begin in an upper corner of the wall. Load your brush moderately and apply paint using diagonal crosshatch strokes, working in a small 2 to 3 square foot section.
Step 4: Build the Texture
Work across the wall section by section, blending edges as you go. Vary your stroke direction and pressure for a natural look.
Step 5: Let It Dry
Allow the first coat to dry for at least two hours before applying a second coat for full suede depth.
Step 6: Admire Your Work
Once the second coat is dry, step back and enjoy your beautiful new suede walls. You did it!
