Pro Application Tips

Want results that look like they were done by a professional? These tips will help you get the most out of every Wall FX application.

Work in Small Sections

Always work in 2 to 3 square foot sections at a time. This keeps a wet edge and prevents visible seams where sections meet.

Vary Your Stroke Direction

Avoid painting in one consistent direction. The more random and varied your strokes, the more natural and organic the suede texture will look.

Use a Dry Brush Finish

After applying paint to a section, lightly drag a nearly dry brush over the surface in soft, sweeping strokes. This softens the texture and blends the finish beautifully.

Keep a Consistent Mix Ratio

Always mix Wall FX into your paint thoroughly and consistently. Inconsistent mixing leads to uneven texture across your walls.

Two Coats Is the Sweet Spot

One coat gives a subtle effect. Two coats builds the full, rich suede depth. A third coat can add even more drama if desired, but two is the standard for a polished result.

Let Each Coat Dry Fully

Patience is key. Rushing the second coat over a damp first coat will lift the texture and create a muddy finish. Wait at least two hours between coats.
